Hey There,

Maternity Photo

Ok, so you’ve scheduled your first session for maternity and now you’re wondering how to prepare. You have enough to worry about so I do my absolute best to take as much stress off of you as possible. I have worked at streamlining the experience and have gathered a ton of great tips through my many sessions with other clients. Well first things first, make sure you have the right address! My studio address is Rose and Salt 3324 S Bryant Ave in Edmond, Ok 73034. Now that we have that out of the way, let's get into the more important items!

So when is the best time to schedule your maternity session?

I recommend 28-36 weeks. This is in third trimester and usually the sweet spot in time, were your belly is showing but you are still feeling and not worried about going into labor We are also aiming for you to move around comfortably and safely. A majority of maternity sessions are taken outdoors, So, your physical comfort and safety are top priority. However each woman is different and there're no rules on taking photos outside of this time frame.

When to put it in the books? The best time to book your session is at the beginning of your second-trimester; and while your at it you can book your newborn photography session.

A lot of the time moms ask me what should wear for my maternity session? I always recommend dressing comfortably and whatever makes you feel your best self. If you are still having a hard time coming up with the perfect outfit, try looking at Pinterest for inspiration! I have found so many great looks from there and it can elevate your photos! If you still feel stuck finding the perfect outfit, we offer a dress rental option with Magnolia Dress Rentals. You are welcome to look though the site and even try on the dress before the session. Although I do have a a client closet with one dress rental for your session, you may want to get your own dress. A great place to get maternity dresses is at small online boutiques. I love Baltic Born, Joyfolie, and Pink Blush! Sometimes a dress that is not meant for maternity can be amazing, and bonus you can most likely wear it again after you deliver! You want to look for stretchy fabric, dresses with elastic at the waist, and a higher wait line.

Location, location, location! Were should I take my maternity photos? This is probably one of the biggest questions I get from mom's when planning their session. Have no fear, I have an entire list of favorite locations to pick from that will suit any style your heart desires. Before we book your session I like to ask about your preferences. Some questions to think about would be: Do you prefer more urban or nature and fields? What style are you going for? Do you have any locations with a special memory? And all of this depends on the season we are shooting in as well, I am continuously out scouting locations so we will always have options no matter what.

Lastly, you can show up with the perfect outfit or supplies but it’s best to start preparing before your session. Make sure you are staying hydrated, eat a great meal, and try to relax as much as possible. Trust that you are in good hands and I will make sure the process is as smooth as possible. I also like to offer booking your newborn session as well so we can have plenty of time to prepare. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns about your session. Haven’t booked yet? What are you waiting for! Let’s get started on making your memories last a lifetime, fill out my session form to register!
